Organiser’s Profile

AniManGaki is the brainchild of Sunway University Anime Club (SUAC)’s founder, Yvonne Sing Yee Wen. The annual convention made its debut in 2009, formed by fans, for fans; with the sole purpose of bringing together animation, comics, and game enthusiasts of all ages. Branded as "The Trendsetter", AniManGaki continues to surprise visitors by bringing new contents to the event each year.

Since 2012, AniManGaki had finalized its separation from Sunway University, becoming a convention organized by the AniManGaki Organizing Committee, presently a division under Rakugaki Events PLT. Its founding members continue to actively participate in major event operations till today. They (alongside new members) have made calls to improve the structure of the event; including the painful decision to leave its birthplace for a larger venue, to accommodate the rising number of attendees.

Today, AniManGaki proudly calls Sunway Pyramid Convention Center -- home sweet home.

Cosplay Competition: An abbreviation of ’costume’ and ‘play’, cosplay is an increasingly popular hobby worldwide. Fans usually attend the event in their own tailored costumes and role-play as their favourite character. Participants perform sketches on stage and make their best impersonation of the cosplayed character. Winning team of this competition will compete against other Malaysian cosplay champions at the annual Cosplay Invitational.

AniManGaki Idol: Another popular anchor activity in which contestants show off their singing skills and compete in front of a judge panel and live audience. The longest of its kind in Malaysian ACG events, also jumpstarted the career of many local ACG singers. This year will be a Battle Royale in which previous winners of AniManGaki Idol from years 2010-2017 will return to stage and compete for the ultimate AniManGaki Idol Champion title.

Special Guests: Local and abroad, AniManGaki strives to be the event that provides talented individuals a platform to perform and to build their branding. Special guests this year features one local and three international artists: Donna Burke feat. Ganime Jazz (musician), Serg Loki Mirage (cosplay celebrity), Moriyama Daisuke (manga artist), and Chinnie (local veteran cosplayer).

Other highlights include art competition, doodle contest, omatsuri, trading card game of thrones, collectibles display hall, special interest panels/workshops, artist alley, stage performances, video game arena, and exhibitor booths.
